We had so much fun with the tournaments, that we decided this would be a perfect vehicle for raising money for charities, and the Richardson & Richardson Charity Classic was born. The 1998 tournament benefited "Families for Children", a service of New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch. Over 30 teams participated on a bright fall day. |

t all started out in 1996 when our dear friend and
associate, Pete
Leyva, suggested a company-sponsored "Fun" golf tournament. We invited
our
employees, sub-contractors, and suppliers to the first tournament, which was held on a windy, cold, British Open kind of day with 25 players. We even got some snowfall.

Golf tournaments in the following years have continued to be both fun and successful. In 2003, we collected donations of nearly $30,000! The turnout was excellent, the weather was beautiful, and the teams all had a great time. We have consistently experienced more support than we ever could have forseen in 1996, and we even have established a few teams of "regulars". |

After our good friend Pete passed away in 2003, we decided to change the name of the tournament in his memory. Thus the Richardson & Richardson Charity Classic became the Pete Leyva Memorial Golf Tournament, with contributions continuing to go to the New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranches.
